4A: What will students do to learn?

writingpad.pngHow will students acquire and practice required knowledge and skills?

In the last module, you began to Download break down

the knowledge, skills and attitudes that students will need in order to generate the evidence that will show they have achieved your learning goals. Take a minute to brainstorm all the things students might DO in order to acquire that knowledge or practice those skills.

For example: Continuing the example for an introductory Economics course, with a CLO to "analyze the impact of government policies on different types of markets" that is assessed by having students provide a correct analysis of government policies on different types of markets, we can the break down the specific knowledge/skills/attitudes they need in order to produce that evidence as understanding of concepts like elasticity, equilibrium, supply and demand, etc. and practice manipulating graphs. A common activity for having students practice manipulating graphs is to give them problems / worksheets to work through in class or at home, or use online computer simulations (now commonly provided by textbook publishers).
