Learning Technologies & Canvas External Tools (LTIs)
Instructional Technology supports a collection of learning technologies and Canvas External Tools for integration into your courses.
Please review the list of supported tools below:
Playposit
Playposit
Links to an external site. is an interactive web-based video platform that allows educators to provide formative assessment both inside and outside the classroom. Teachers are able to embed quiz-type questions into videos from Youtube, Vimeo, Khan Academy, and other popular video platforms. PlayPosit offers a library of templates as a starting point for users at any level and more question types than Canvas Studio. PlayPosit is integrated into Canvas making it easy assess and grade students. Data can then be analyzed on the individual or group level, providing powerful insight into educational trends in the classroom. Students can also create their own Playposit videos and quizzes (Learner Made Bulbs

A leading tool that seamlessly engages audiences in traditional and virtual spaces workspaces through live online polling, surveys, Q&As, quizzes, word clouds, and more. Turnitin
Turnitin is a tool integrated with Canvas to enhance feedback and plagiarism detection for writing assignments. It offers three main features: Originality checks for plagiarism by comparing submissions against internet sources and its database, Feedback Studio allows instructors to edit, grade, and comment on papers online, and PeerMark enables peer review of classmates' papers. Turnitin has two Canvas integrations: the Plagiarism Framework for plagiarism detection only and Feedback Studio for comprehensive feedback and grading. It streamlines the feedback process and ensures academic integrity.
Gradescope
Qwickly
Qwickly has been enabled for faculty only and is a great tool for communicating and bulk creating content. With Qwickly emailing students BEFORE your course is actually available (published) or after your course has ended. Canvas won't send email unless a course is published and, usually, within the current semester. Qwickly is also useful when you want to add documents to multiple courses, post the same announcement to multiple courses, make multiple courses available to students, and more.
Qwickly is easy to use and requires no training. You can access Qwickly by clicking on "Account" under your name on the Canvas Global Navigation menu => Qwickly => Authorize and you are ready to start using Qwickly.
Respondus Lockdown Browser
Respondus LockDown Browser is a web browser just like Safari, Chrome or Firefox which works with Canvas to help prevent online test-takers from accessing applications and websites on their computers as well as printing and copying the test while the test is running. LockDown Browser has also proven to be an excellent way to mitigate online test crashes by preventing resizing a browser window, refreshing the page, switching to another application, etc. Students are locked into the test until they submit it for grading. If students exit early, they are prompted to enter a reason why and it will be available in the Respondus dashboard. If the test crashes, students should re-enter the test immediately. (The timer is running so they will lose time but they should be able to get back in.) Respondus hosts several videos on faculty and students use

Note: All faculty interested in using Respondus Monitor need to get approval from their Dean.
iClicker
iClicker is an audience response system used to engage students who might not normally participate in class and to conduct knowledge checks which may inform classroom instruction. Please see the SDSU iClicker
