Unit 2 Introduction

Now that you have had an introduction to how Canvas works, it is time to think about how you will structure your own course site. In this unit you will learn the basics of how to set up a course site, add course materials, and arrange those materials in a way that supports the learning objectives of your course.

By the end of this lesson, participants will be able to

  • Understand how Modules can be used to organize and manage access to course content
  • Create Content Pages for anytime access by students
  • Choose a Home Page that will best support student success

To meet the objectives of this lesson, you will complete the following activities and assessments:

  1. Check out faculty online courses (short video overviews)
  2. Read Connect with This Topic:
    "Content Considerations"
    "Advanced Module Options"
    "Images and Multimedia"
    "The Canvas Syllabus"
    "The Setup Checklist"
    "Course Settings and Navigation"
  3. Perform the "Create a Module" hands-on activity
  4. Perform the "Create a Content Page" hands-on activity
  5. Perform the "Choose a Home Page" hands-on activity
  6. Complete the "Unit 2 Quiz"
