Unit 3 Now You Try: Create a Calendar Item
- Due No Due Date
- Points 1
- Submitting a website url or a file upload
Overview
Canvas automatically adds events to the class calendar for course tools that have dates associated with them (Assignments and Quizzes but also things like Modules). Through the Calendar tool, you can also add Events that are not connected to online content, like something taking place on campus or even when your face-to-face class is meeting. A non-assignment event can include a link to a Module, Discussion, or Content Page. All Calendar events appear on the Syllabus page as well as the Calendar. Additionally, users can subscribe to the Canvas Calendar feed, so their course events can appear in any calendar application that accepts an iCal feed.
Instructions
- Click on the Calendar menu item on the Global Navigation menu. All of your courses will be listed on the right under CALENDARS. Make sure your course calendar is enabled by clicking the box (Colored = Enabled).
- Go to the Canvas Calendar and create a non-assignment calendar event associated with your course. Feel free to click the More Options button and add a link to a Module, Discussion, or Content Page.
- Once you have added the event to the calendar, click on the event and either get the URL for the event by copying the link that is associated with the event title, or take a screenshot of the calendar showing the open event. Submit either the URL or screenshot here.
Criteria for Assignment Completion
- Submitted screenshot or URL shows that you added a non-assignment calendar event to your course.
