Introduction

Part A: Making the Library Work for You and Developing Research Assignments

Part A of this module will cover services that the library offers to support faculty and how we can help you develop your course. We will explore concepts in information literacy and introduce to the Association of College and Research Libraries' Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education. Through these frames we will explore how you can more thoughtfully support students through the development of effective research assignments.

Part B: Library and Open Education Resources as Course Materials

Access to course materials is foundational to student success in a course. Student presence on campus Fall 2020 will be limited, making access to the physical collection (including course reserves) difficult for most students. Faculty have the opportunity to select electronic Library and Open Educational Resources to support your curriculum and improve student access to course materials. In Part B of this module we will explore library and OER materials for classroom use, copyright and digital rights management, and Open Pedagogy examples.

A Describe ways that Librarians can help you integrate information literacy into your course
A Identify services offered by the library that can be integrated into your course to help students
B Search OER portals for relevant course materials
B Identify ways OER material can be integrated into your classroom pedagogy
B Discover no-cost Library e-books suitable for use as required course materials
B Understand classroom Copyright, especially in regards to streaming media
